Hi, I'm travelling through China for one month, now I am in Xian and I will arrive in around one week in Langmusi, I saw on your website that there are no horse trekkings at this period of the year, but is it still possible to do some hiking? Thanks for your answer.

Hi, we are a Dutch couple living in China (Shanghai) and will visit Gansu and Sichuan province in January. We will arrive in Langmusi on the 27th. We know it will be very cold and that it's low season, but hopefully the hotel and caf?are open. Do you have any information? Hi! I asked earlier about the Home God Festival, but I made a mistake. We cannot arrive until the 15th, so don't worry about my previous question. Instead, we would be interested to take a 2 day hiking / riding tour to the Namo Gorge and Huagai Mountain the 16th or the 17th. If it is possible to see anything from the festival the 16th that would of course be interesting too. I have sent a couple of emails with that information and a few other questions, but haven't received replies. Have you received those emails? We are leaving for China in 2 days and won't have much email access once we get there, so in case we don't hear back, we'll just hope to coordinate the final details as soon as we arrive in Langmusi. (I tried to call, but unfortunately couldn't understand the chinese message.)

That's great, thanks. We'd like to book a 3 day/2 night trip. We plan to arrive in Langmusi on Sept 5, and hopefully begin horse trek on Sept 6, return to Langmusi on Sept 8. Has Langmusi been affected by the flooding? If so, we hope that your town and community were not badly damaged. If you were not affected by the flooding, are you still running horse treks in September? If so, is it best to try to get to Langmusi from the north because of the flooding in Sichuan, or is it equally problematic from Lanzhou? We are interested in a horse trek, but trying to understand what/where we can go in the overall area because of the flood and flood damage, and to make sure we aren't getting in the way during recovery efforts.

Do you have a 14 day tour of Tibet with 5-7 days pony trekking in low altitude (under 3000 meters) southern, warmer climate areas with gentle terrain, departing in mid to late February and is it possilbe to join a group?

Hi! I am Hoyon from korea. I plan to go to lanzhou or chengdu on 7.19,(NOT YET BOOKED THE TICKET) so would be able to go there on 7.20. And I can stay there until 7.24 morning, (i have a flight to catch in lanzhou on 7.24 19:40) which means i have 3 whole day to enjoy trekking. so i want to book a 3 days trekking(7.21-7.23) which probably is 'Climbing Mt.Huagai & Pass Ocean of Flower-3 Day's Trail (Summer)' since i am a big fan of horse riding, i think this one is a perfect tour for me. *If there no one available in this tour other than me, please let me know other ongoing tour program that i can join in those same period.

hi, I am teaching in Cheng du july 15-18. i would like to travel to langmusi and do horse trekking after i complete the teaching on 7/18. I am one traveler only. Hello from the US. I was hoping to explore your vast, majestic lands by horse or yak beast. Is this possible in January? I do believe the creatures will be too weak at this time, but please do correct me if I am wrong. Also, if the trekking is not an option, are there any other attractions in Langmusi in January? the horse trecks around Langmusi sound like a dream come true!! But I won't be there until late November. :( Any chances there will be tours around that time of year? Or will everything be covered in snow by then?

I just like to leave a few comments for fellow visitors. Had a wonderful time during the 1 night stay at the nomad's tent (2 weeks ago). The large expanse of grassland was very beautiful, especially during sunset. The first day on horseback was a very memorable highlight of my Sichuan/Gansu trip. =) Looking at the deteriorating state of Tagong Grassland, hopefully Langmusi will not be spoilt in the same manner by the influx of visitors. If anyone is looking for an authentic experience, I would strongly recommend Langmusi over Tagong or Songpan. -Alex

Hi, I intend to visit Langmusi during the 1st week of August in time for the Home God festival. I intend to do Yushu as well. Is there a faster way from Yushu to Langmusi? other than the Yushu>Xining>Lanzhou>Lingxia>Langmusi? So for foreigners, i will need to buy tickets from Lanzhou to Lingxia, then a ticket to Langmusi right? They will sell tickets to foreigners at Lingxia right?

So it is nice to hear that the bus connection from langmusi to songpan via zoige is now open to foreigners. What about going more south to chengdou? Is the road okay and public buses do this connection?

Is there no way to go to langmusi in may? I've already bought the air tickets to chengdu to only go to langmusi.TT I wish I could go there.

Is entering to Langmusi for foreigners allowed now? I've seen in the newspaper that china government doesn't allow foreigners to enter Tibetian areas as well as Tibet itself. I have a plan to go there in mid of May.

Hi, I am with my wife is going to langmusi to have horse trekking for 2-3 days (grassland). We have no much time so need your advice to make a plan. We are flying from urumqi on August 10, 2007 to langzhou with morning flight. We are palnning to take the latest bus to Xiahe (14.30) and look around there. We are keen to join your horse trekking on the next day. So probably will take taxi early in the morning to langmusi. Is it possible? Where can we meet someone to hire taxi in xiahe? how much? Is it possible to directly join your trip? I am keen to take a 3 days trip rather than the 2 days. So if we can not join as we planned, it seems that we could join only for 2 days trip. Found your website in the Lonely Planet guide. There are three of us, 1 American and 2 Chinese. We are trying to choose between horse trekking adventures 2, 3 & 4 Red Stone, Experience Nomadlife, Pass Gehesu Grassland. My friends have never ridden horses before and are a little concerned. About how much time is in the saddle for each of the three trips I mentioned.? Very cool website.

However, my wife will be three months pregnant, so we will be avoiding higher altitudes, preferring to stay less than 3000meters. What options can you recommend? You mentioned on your website that it's possible to hire a taxi from Langmusi to Jiuzhai Gou directly. How much is that? I'm a solo traveller so I think that may be a small problem in terms of costs, but I thought I'd ask. Hello there, Finally found a way to talk to langmusi :D In fact we were 5 guys who stayed at langmusi hotel in august 2005 and we really liked the people there a lot, but infortunately we lost the contacts everyone gave us during the rest of our travels. They nicknamed us niamaka and lingwo maybe they remember us. I want to send the photos we took with them and the cute lili. So if you have the address of the langmusi hotel it would be so great !! So we could mail those photos directly to them. Thank you so much And everyone who is reading this, we traveled for one month in north china and langmusi is simply the place we prefered, superb sceneries, nicest people, and beautiful festival at the temple !!!

We came in May. Our guide was Calsong and we slept in his hotel. We made a trekk for one day with you (we went and saw nomads). Hi, some peoples in Beijing told me, that there is a nice tibetan style Cafe and Restaurant in Langmusi where you can eat good Tibetan food and some german special from the mountin and real Italien espresso. The peoples are supposed to be very friendly and sometimes Talo, the owner sings Tibetan songs. They told me, the name is Talo and Friend's Restaurant. Do you know aboutit?
