How about the life of nomads? |
The nomads are a special part of the Tibetan. They are living follow the season changing.
Each nomadic family has at least 4 grasslands. They will use these grasslands in different month depending on the geography condition. In summer the nomads will move every month, using yaks to transport their belongings. they live in black tents made of yak hair, and on moving day, pack all of their belongings on the backs of the yaks and drive the sheep and yaks to the new grasslands.
This is a simple life, but entails much hard work to survive.
Women are a most important part of the workforce, and men have an easier lifestyle. Each day women will rise at 3:00 or 4:00am to milk the yaks. After a night of rest and food digestion, the yaks give the best milk. When the sun rises the women will finish milking and start the next round of tasks, collecting and carrying water from the nearest river, making the famous yak butter, spreading and collecting the yak dung to make fuel for cooking fires. The women are always working - but also always happy to give you a shy smile when they meet you.
And what do the men do? After breakfast they head out to herd. This is their main task for the day. They also protect the sheep and yaks from wolves. When the sunsets, they drive the livestock back to the camp, and relax while the women cook the supper.
After several snows, the people of Langmusi will decide that winter has finally arrived. At this time they will cease their nomadic life on the grasslands and prepare for winter by building earth houses on the winter grasslands and moving the cattle to this area. |
