At 10:00am, we will leave Langmusi to ride along the White Dragon River and have lunch at the river spring. After lunch, we will continue the trek. At approximately 3:00pm, we will arrive at a large grassland. On the grassland, 4 or 5 nomad's tents will be together and another group will be sited 1km away. The sheep and yaks are grazing everywhere. Tonight, we will sleep in a tent with local people.
From late April to early June, we will spend the night at the source area of the White Dragon River;
From the middle June to late August, we will sleep at the foot of Mt. Huagai;
From early September to early November, we will sleep in The Ocean of Flowers.
After arriving the tent, learn how to take the halter and saddle off the horse; learn how to make fire with the yak shit; learn using the special tool "pe" to drive the yak and sheep; go with the host of the family to drive the yak and sheep back home and help the hostess to tie the yak on a roap.
Second Day
In the morning, the nomads are busy with their normal routine. During the morning, you will see daily activities such as milking, collecting and spreading the yak dung, making butter etc. And if you like, you can experience these activities for yourself.
After this, we will cross through the Ocean of Flowers. Eat lunch at the Red Stone Forest. Ride further to the winter house to stay overnight.
Today we will ride for about 4.5 hours.
Third day
This day, you will spend a long time riding on the grassland, around 4.5 hours. Finally, we will arrive at the winter house, which is very near the Ga Lake. Behind this house, there is a small hill from there you can see the sun set over the lake. This night we stay in this winter house.
Fourth day
This is a hiking and relaxation day. We will walk along the lake. Bring binoculars with you to see many kinds of birds and small animals, especial black-necked crane. Ga Lake is an very important area for the black-necked crane to breed in summer.
On the east side of the lake, it's marsh. We can have a short walk on its edge. But to keep safety, it's not allowed to get the center of the marsh.
Stay in the same house of the third day.
There is no riding on this day, because after three day's long riding, the horses must have a rest.
Fifth day
In this morning, we use a motor bike to drive you to the highway,where a car will bring you back to Langmusi. You will back Langmusi around midday.
Notes:
* This trek is available from May to October;
* In summer, the weather can be very cold on the grasslands, and it is wise to be prepared.
* For the night spent in the nomad tents there are no beds. We provide sleeping
bags, and generally a light padding is placed on the bare earth of the tent,
under the sleeping bag. There are no showers or private washing facilities. The
nomads tent is made of yak hair and it is not waterproof. If it rains during the
night, we will put a plastic cover on top of the tent to stop the rain. But if
we meet terrible weather with strong winds, it is likely the rain will come
inside the tent. The guide will try his best to keep the tent dry, but you need
prepared for any bad situation. The trip we offer is a genuine experience trip.
* For the nights spent in the winter houses, you will sleep together on a big bed made with wood. There are still no facilities for shower and private washing.
